Latest news: the beaches in Campania will be open this summer!
This may not be the most secret tip to keep these days, but finally this day has arrived: as of May 23rd 2020 we are allowed to book a holiday in 2020 on the beach in Campania!
Within the obvious restrictions (social distancing, covid symptoms checks…) it will be possible this summer to go on a sandy white beach in Cilento, or climb on a rock to dive into the blue water of the Amalfi Coast!
I couldn’t stop myself from starting to plan a holiday and to look for the best places to go, considering the current rules.
Here are my top 3 tips to book a holiday in 2020 in Campania:
- Rent a boat to keep social distancing without stress – sailing is permitted as long as there are 25% people less than the maximum number of people allowed on the boat (this number it’s written on the boat book)
- Book your sunbeds at a large beach – Why? the limitation due to social distancing will impose to the organizers to ensure at least an area of 10 sq metres per customer (+ his/her relatives) and 1,5 metre distance between the sunbeds in two different areas. Let’s say you won’t be disturbed by your sunbeds’ neighbors this year! Thankfully there beaches large enough to make these rules sustainable. My favorites spots are in Paestum area where you will find long sandy beaches and cool atmospheres in the organised beach (for the non-Italian, the “lido”). I talked about my preferred lido in this article.
- Learn to dive to see history and majestic nature – also water sports are allowed! If a day on a sunbed it’s not ideal for you, go for a guided snorkeling trip or a diving course. There’s plenty to see underwater: from the famous “Blue cave” in Palinuro (I tried that, but I didn’t dive into the cave) or you can dive or snorkel in one of the 5 underwater sites of the Roman cities that sunk due to a volcanic eruption.
