The New York Times has published the interviews to the first people on the beach in Campania with the new rules. Why?
The Amalfi Coast has been for long time the place to go on holiday for Americans (which are the biggest number of tourists in the region – 410.775 in 2019). Americans are also very good at spotting the most amazing places.
Once I run into a lovely girl from US, while I was doing the Walk of the Gods, a breathtaking hike on the Coast of Amalfi. This walk is not on the list of most tour guides, but she had heard about it from American friends. This experience is unique. You walk 7.8 km at the top of the 650 meters cliffs above the coast of Amalfi (it’s not on the edge of the cliffs, don’t worry!). The walk of Gods connects Agerola to Positano, and it has been sculpted by Mother Nature. It’s suitable for families but you should wear comfortable shoes and avoid the hottest hours of the day (of course I did it at 2 PM in August…).
Recommendations to visit the Walk of Gods – Get to Amalfi by ferry, take a bath there and visit the Duomo, then hop on a bus that will take you to Agerola in 30 minutes. Buy a sandwich with the worldwide famous mozzarella and start your walk. You will arrive in Nocelle, there’s a lovely bar with a terrace on the gulf just at the end of the walk where you can buy drinks. Then hop on a bus that will take you to Positano (20 minutes). Take another bath and visit Positano at sunset, then get back home by ferry directly from Positano.
